Parkersburg South, bidding for its AAA state-record fourth consecutive high school wrestling state championship, leads after the first day of competition at Huntington on Thursday.
Patriot wrestlers won nine of 12 matches to take a 2 1/2 point lead over crosstown rival Parkersburg at the Civic Arena. |
In Class AA-A, Five-time defending champion Oak Glen lost two of its first five matches and was in second place after the first day.
Calhoun County won 10 of its 11 matches -- with seven by pins.
The tournament concludes on Saturday.
